I LOVE desserts but man cannot live on desserts alone so what's a person to do when they need a little pick-me-up and they've sworn off caffeinated bevs and are maxed out on choco treats?
Berries I say. Here are two berries that are super good for you and full of sweet and tartness.
First, Goldenberries. This Incan Golden berry (Physalis peruvuana), or Cape Gooseberry grows on small shrubs that are one to three feet in height. Native to Brazil thrives in warm full sun conditions where there is also an adequate rainfall.
They are tangy for sure and contain many tiny seeds that are laden with nutrients according to the package I am reading, (from Navitas Naturals).
Cool packaging by the way. And a really nice way to freshen up a glass of filtered water!
Second there's the Goji Berry. Super high in nutrients and anti oxidants which help protect our internal organs from rusting out. A nutritionist friend of mine told me that coffee is highly acidic and all of that acid in our bodies is slowly doing a lot of long term damage to our internal organs.
Eating Goji berries as a supplement is a good way to counter that imbalance. Better yet stop drinking so much acid and let your body heal itself.
I've been on a green smoothie drink challenge for more than 30 days now and I have to say my coffee craving disappeared only 3 days into the challenge and without doing anything else to my diet I've already lost noticeable weight.
Anyway, enough of my soap box...add a few of these berries to your eating habits and you'll feel good about snacking.
