If you've read the story of how PAZ was born then you know how we embarked on a journey to track down a family run factory known in Brazil for making funky hats out of recycled canvas and vegan 'vegetable' leather.
Eventually we found them and began working to produce truly one of a kind pieces that I personally feel great about wearing. I'm the type of person who makes conscious buying decisions. I don't just buy things to have 'stuff'. I buy only what I need.
And for my trip to Brazil I definitely needed a wide brimmed hat to protect my skin from the harsh sun.
Which brings me to my custom designed recycled canvas hats and bags with vegan leather details. The material for the hats and bags originally served to protect the precious cargo of Brazilian truckers. And the really wonderful part is that these truckers take extremely good care of their canvas often stitching tears and patching the material until eventually it has to be replaced.
So, instead of discarding the canvas it is re-purposed by a small family run factory where it is then lovingly made into funky vegan hats and bags. Each piece truly has a unique character of its own.
And you'll find that some of our pieces are made with a unique vegan 'vegetable' leather. The vegetable leather is entirely hand made by the Amazonian people and does not require clear-cutting any land. Production is done in a small factory and is largely hand driven with minimal use of sewing and cutting machines.
So now you understand why I love PAZ so much! No animals are harmed in the making of our products and instead of adding to our landfills we are re-purposing canvas into funky pieces that serve as a vegan fashion statement of our love and respect for the planet Earth.
